Vermont Sun Structures has been designing and installing sunrooms, greenhouses, and conservatories since 1986. We have not built the same sunroom twice... each project is unique in the way it attaches to a house and meets the owners' needs. Sunrooms, greenhouses, and conservatories can be great investments for adding space and value to your home. Our passion lies in creating this new space for your home that soon becomes your new favorite room.
The founder, designer, manager, and lead carpenter for Vermont Sun Structures is Dennis Bates. Dennis has degrees in civil engineering specializing in solar energy applications. Since college his work has focused on energy conservation issues, remodeling an old farmhouse in Williston, growing a family and running a company. Dennis works with a crew of seasoned carpenters and enthusiastic helpers learning the trade of energy efficient remodeling and green building.
Design Philosophy
The design and construction of any room addition onto your home should be done very carefully. A sunroom, greenhouse, or conservatory presents unique issues and challenges that if approached correctly allow the room to bring light, and energy into the home. The challenges arise when building with glass exposes us to the 12 seasons of the Vermont climate. The light and energy our projects bring to your home is made possible through our experience with state-of-the art technology and our dedication to our work.
Green building is a term that covers many aspects of design and construction. We continue to be involved in this evolving field and apply relevant principles in all that we do. Vermont Sun Structures is a locally grown business that builds with advanced techniques, pursues renewable energy, and uses durable non-polluting materials.
